In Bakersfield, shops are busiest on Monday mornings and before holiday weekends, so a mid-week appointment gets a car seen faster. Labor rates across California vary by neighborhood and by shop type, from small independents to dealership service bays, and mobile mechanics now cover many routine jobs in the driveway. Before authorizing a repair, ask for the estimate in writing, whether the shop warranties parts and labor (12 months / 12,000 miles is common, some offer more), and whether it can provide a loaner or a shuttle. Check the listing for hours, the makes the shop works on and its Google rating, then call ahead, since walk-in capacity is limited at smaller shops.

Hours are published for 5 days a week. The most common schedule is 8:30 am–5 pm. Note that it does not open on Saturday, Sunday. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (661) 322-1800. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone.

On Google it holds a rating of 4.8 out of 5 from 80 reviews, which is a strong result for a smog check and inspection station in Bakersfield and suggests consistent service.

I’m new to the area and was referred to Elias Smog by a friend, so glad she did! My car is a bit older, and I was starting to worry it might be on its last leg, but Elias recommended exactly what was needed and was able to get it fixed the same day. Veronica at the front desk was super helpful and kind, she even called ahead to walk me through the pricing before moving forward, which I really appreciated. I’m genuinely thankful to have found a knowledgeable and honest mechanic in the area. I’ll definitely be referring friends and family here!

I had my car go to a regular mechanic shop and they had replaced something that didn’t need replacing so they recommended me to this shop which they calculated everything on the car to the T and knew exactly what was going on with the car. Very recommended shop if you’re having mechanic troubles and you’re trying to figure out the problem. Will be coming back for future service's
